Modernize. Connect. Evolve.

Technology moves fast. We make it make sense.

MCE Cyber Partners brings together three different perspectives across application security, cyber risk, IT operations, cybersecurity, automation, and AI. We help organizations figure out what matters, what needs to change, and what makes sense next.

Our Story

Mary. Christi. Ed.

We met through the cybersecurity community. What started as conversations at industry events turned into friendship, shared ideas, and eventually the realization that our different backgrounds fit together pretty well.

Mary comes from the application security side. Christi brings the risk, governance, audit, and assurance perspective. Ed's background is in IT operations, infrastructure, and cybersecurity.

Outside of work, we're usually still talking about technology. You'll find us at cybersecurity and technology events around Houston, traveling to conferences like RSA Conference and Black Hat, following what's happening with AI, or comparing notes on something new we just learned.

MCE Cyber Partners grew out of that mix: three people with different specialties who enjoy solving problems, learning from each other, and figuring out how technology can work better for the people and businesses that depend on it.

MCE began with Mary, Christi, and Ed. Somewhere along the way, it also came to describe how we think: Modernize. Connect. Evolve.
What We Do

We look at technology from different angles.

Infrastructure problems can become security problems. Security decisions affect operations. Applications create their own risks. And AI is starting to touch all of it. Our different backgrounds help us look at the whole picture.

M

Application & AI Security

Help development teams build and operate software more securely while understanding the new risks introduced by automation and AI.

  • Application security
  • Secure development practices
  • Security automation
  • Threat modeling
  • AI application security
C

Cyber Risk & Assurance

Understand where risk exists, whether controls are working, and what leadership should prioritize next.

  • Cybersecurity assessments
  • IT risk and governance
  • Audit and compliance readiness
  • Third-party risk
  • Security control reviews
E

IT Operations & Cybersecurity

Improve the infrastructure, systems, operations, and security capabilities organizations rely on every day.

  • IT operations and infrastructure strategy
  • Cybersecurity improvement
  • Technology modernization
  • Operational resilience
  • AI and automation opportunities
How We Work

The MCE approach.

Technology doesn't need more buzzwords. It needs decisions that make sense for the environment, the people running it, and the business paying for it.

M

Make it practical.

We don't recommend technology simply because it's new or impressive. It has to fit the environment, the team, the budget, and the problem you're actually trying to solve.

C

Connect the dots.

Infrastructure, cybersecurity, risk, applications, and AI don't operate separately. We look at how a decision in one area affects everything around it.

E

Evolve with purpose.

Change should move the business forward, not create complexity for its own sake. Improve what works, fix what doesn't, and adopt what's next when it actually makes sense.

Leadership

M. C. E.

Three different backgrounds give us three ways to look at the same technology problem.

Mary Loup

Partner, Application & AI Security

Mary brings the application side of security to MCE. Her interests span application security, secure software development, automation, and the growing intersection between AI and software security.

She enjoys looking at how applications are actually built and finding ways to make security part of that process instead of something added at the end.

Christi Lillard

Partner, Cyber Risk & Assurance

Christi looks at cybersecurity through the lens of risk, controls, governance, and assurance.

Her perspective helps connect technical security issues with the questions organizations ultimately have to answer: What matters most? What needs to change? And how do we know the controls are actually working?

Ed Perez

Founder & Managing Partner

Ed's background is rooted in IT operations, infrastructure, systems administration, and cybersecurity. He has spent his career working across the technology environment rather than in just one part of it — from infrastructure and networking to security, vendors, users, and business operations.

He is especially interested in AI, automation, and finding practical ways to use emerging technology without losing sight of reliability, security, or business value.

Always Learning

We're technology people even when we're off the clock.

You'll find us at cybersecurity and technology events around Houston, traveling to RSA Conference, Black Hat, and other industry events, experimenting with AI, comparing notes on something we just learned, or disappearing down a technology rabbit hole.

That's part of why MCE exists. We like this field, we like the community around it, and we're interested in where it's going next.

Let's Talk

What's the technology problem you're trying to solve?

It doesn't have to start with a formal engagement. Tell us what's going on, what you're trying to improve, or what you're unsure about. We'll start with a conversation.
